Putting our Efforts into an Attitude of Compassion for Everyone. Based on our acceptance and conviction of Gospel values the mission of St. Rosalia Academy is to strive for excellence in education and commitment to Christian Values by having our faculty, students, and parents work together in a supportive environment. Added to this commitment is our nonviolent approach to life.
St. Rosalia Academy, a Catholic co-educational institution, seeks to provide an atmosphere in which each student’s faith may become living, conscious, and active through the light of instruction, thus enabling the student to become aware of his/her unique value as an individual. Believing that religious values are essential to a fully human life, we offer an opportunity in our total educational program for Christian religion, understanding, experience and commitment. The student gradually learns that responsibility goes beyond his/herself to family, fellow students, community, country and the world. Our curriculum is designed to serve the needs of the students as they prepare for further education. We seek to cultivate critical and creative thinking by educating the whole person according to the totality of human life. Faculty, students and parents work together to build a Christian community in which mutual respect and personal concern characterize interpersonal relations. We believe that every facet of life is important- spiritual, physical, intellectual and emotional. We believe that every child is unique and valuable because his/her life comes from God. We believe that one of the purposes of life is to improve the quality of life for all people everywhere. We believe that if we have helped a child to become more human, less racist, more able to believe in the ultimate value of life, more hopeful - then we have prepared him/her for life.
Department for Catholic Schools
The Vision for the Department for Catholic Schools is to promote and to sustain Catholic Schools of unparalleled quality, which integrate faith into every aspect of life and culture, producing graduates who continually strive for human and Christian perfection.
Catechesis (Religious Education)
Catechesis is the center of the Catholic School. A conscious effort is made to create a Christ-centered atmosphere by stressing Christian values in the classroom as well as throughout the school. A mindful endeavor is made to integrate catechesis into every aspect of the school curriculum.
Our belief in Jesus has drawn us to this school community. Our beliefs are expressed in and strengthened by daily communal prayer. Students develop skills and a love for the Church’s daily worship. Prayer includes a prayer each morning, with simple prayers for before and after lunch and at the end of the day.
Faith experiences are an integral part of catechesis. Opportunities for Eucharistic Liturgies, Reconciliation, Stations of the Cross, classroom prayer, and service to others are included. Community is at the heart of Catholic education, not simply as a concept to be learned, but as a reality to be lived.
The principal, in conjunction with the Pastor and the Director of Religious Education, works with the teachers in the religious development and sacramental preparation of the students. Parent Preparation Programs for Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation are held during the year. These are parish programs and involve all eligible children and parents of the parish.
